How TGW Logistics keeps one of Germany’s largest logistics centers running around the clock
A wide variety of items are stored across 62,000 square meters in 80,000 storage locations, moved and picked by 3,600 highly automated storage and transport devices as well as robots – 24/7, around the clock. Every second counts, because even the failure of a single component at a critical point can lead to a serious standstill.
Challenge
In highly automated warehouses, even a minor technical defect can have a domino effect: If a central component comes to a standstill, in the worst case the entire material flow grinds to a halt. A race against time begins for the technical team: They must identify the right spare part from among thousands of components, often under enormous time pressure. Every additional search, every delay in procurement can, in the worst case, result in high costs and threaten the productivity of the entire operation.
Solution
Together with TGW Logistics, we have developed an innovative service portal that centralizes all after-sales processes relating to spare parts and services. With just a few clicks, the technical team can now navigate through the plant structure, intuitively identify the right components, and reorder them directly. In addition, support tickets, technical documentation, and warranty processing are directly integrated — and accessible 24/7. This allows downtime to be significantly reduced and spare parts to be reordered quickly.

Spare parts are identified in record time, equipment is back in operation faster, and material flow interruptions are minimized. This is made possible by a scalable, stable platform – provided on Azure and orchestrated with Kubernetes – that delivers full transparency across over 850,000 spare parts, even under the most complex requirements.
The result: Accelerated processes that save time and money for both TGW Logistics and their end customers. User acceptance has increased significantly, and the modernized, intuitive user interface has led to measurably higher customer satisfaction.
