Scalable energy supply: Custom platform enables MFGK’s growth

As MFGK set its sights on expanding from business customers into the private household segment, the growing volume of metering points and the highly dynamic Austrian energy market created increasing operational demands.
Frequent regulatory changes, complex tariff structures, real-time market data requirements, and the need for seamless invoicing and customer management quickly pushed existing processes to their limits. Rapid adaptation to constant changes and error-free handling of thousands of daily data sets became essential for maintaining service quality and supporting ambitious growth targets.
Solution
MFGK partnered with Cloudflight to develop a fully integrated, custom-built CRM/ERP platform tailored precisely for the dynamic energy sector. At its core lies a sophisticated calculation engine that automatically processes consumption data, applies current tariffs and regulatory rules, and generates invoices with minimal manual intervention. Additional modules handle SEPA direct debits, bank communications, and automated reporting.
A true game-changer is the market communication module, which provides realtime metering data for every point directly from the market, wiping out a massive manual bottleneck. Above all, it fully automates all the standardized market processes, including supplier switches – tasks that used to tie up staff happen silently in the background.
None of that would have been possible without our deep, hands-on knowledge of Austrian energy-market processes and regulatory requirements.

- Built with agile methods using continuous deployment: completed features were rolled out incrementally – simplifying testing, boosting quality and minimizing risk every step of the way.
- Invoicing is now almost 100% automated for the customer base, ensuring timely and accurate billing even as numbers increase.
- Two full-time equivalents (FTEs) have been freed for higher-value tasks, delivering direct annual savings of approximately 120–130 000 €.
