Discovering her Path
For many of us, the path that brought us to where we are is anything but straight. Julia did not always know she wanted to work in IT. In fact, her love for animals, especially horses (she has two!), made her consider becoming a veterinarian. While she eventually decided to study computer science at university, she did not give up on her dream of helping animals and took a part-time job at a nearby vet station. Nonetheless, she grew to enjoy her technical studies and eventually finished with a master’s degree. At that point, she was ready to find her next challenge.
Julia never forgot the amazing experience she had as our intern, so she was excited to join us as soon as possible. She started as a software developer and had the opportunity to create a system that is still being used in the manufacturing facilities of Tesla and Porsche. As she gained more experience engineering solutions in Angular and TypeScript over the years, she began to leverage her interpersonal skills and became a project leader and a project supervisor. In 2020, she wrote her last line of code—a code that is used by appliances in many of our kitchens.
The Secret Sauce of Growth
Today, Julia works as a member of the leadership team in Germany, as well as the head of delivery. She ensures that customers benefit from our service without any hiccups and that everyone in the project teams has the necessary tools to create top solutions and develop professionally. However, Julia never waited for someone to grant her any special role to start taking action. She always found out what was necessary and just did it, which eventually led to her getting official roles.
Besides taking on extra responsibility, she sees self-reflection as a crucial tool for personal and professional development—always look from another perspective and reevaluate if you are doing the right thing. Her last piece of advice is to be persistent. Just like Julia, who never gave up on learning how to ride a horse. Even though the horse dropped her many times, she always got back in the saddle. Julia’s unwavering spirit and unrelenting will to improve herself and everything around her is a great inspiration to all of us. Thank you!
„Good, better, best – Never let it rest. Make your good better and your better best.”
