Ups and downs
As a kid in Poland, Maciej’s tech story started when his dad brought home an i386 computer. He later studied technical informatics but dropped out to chase mechanic jobs to fuel his passion for cars. He worked odd gigs too: security guard, ice cream display arranger, and bartender.
However, he never quit working on his IT skills, and eventually, he landed his first PHP gig. Three months in, he dove into clean, performant code at a startup building Magento and WooCommerce extensions. He loved it. His life was starting to head in the right direction. So right that he even bought his first home, together with his wife. But then, all of a sudden, the company folded. Still in shock, he realized that, with only a few months’ worth of savings, he needed to find a new job. Quickly.
Always learning
After Maciej pulled himself together, he started his search. He stumbled upon Cloudflight, a company with an engaging offer and nice vibes. It was a match, and he landed a role as a Magento specialist. Back on track, he soon started working on his first big project for our client Solar, a fashion brand where we rolled out one of the first Magento 2 implementations worldwide. The project was so successful that it earned the team a global award with a ceremony in Las Vegas.
Maciej took every opportunity to grow. He finished his bachelor’s degree, stepped up as project leader, later diving into sales, recruitment, and new tech like Node.js and commercetools during COVID’s digital commerce shifts. Now a technical architect, he oversees a Shopify Hydrogen project and a secondary market platform for custom luxury watches, tackling very complex integrations.
“Each year, I ask: Is there more to learn? The answer’s always yes” Maciej on growth
To clear his head, Maciej rides his BMW motorcycle (Yes, he has both a BMW bike and a BMW car) – like meditation, only on wheels. Family comes first, though, so no wild stunts. At Cloudflight, he has grown from coder to architect, always learning and helping others reach their goals. If you are in Wroclaw and want to chat about mobility solutions from Bayern or digital commerce, definitely drop Maciej a PM.
