Achieving satisfaction through work

We all have different life goals, and as we grow older and go through life, they change and evolve. Johann is a leader who loves developing software, especially front end, and is very invested in the accessibility topic. He is an exceptional engineer, but it was only after he started working at Cloudflight that he discovered his true passion for programming.

Positive feedback as a catalyst for growth

Johann never imagined himself as a software engineer. At school he did not enjoy learning and instead just focused on having fun . Later, he enrolled in a technical high school (HTL) because it was the nearest school to his home. In the final years of his studies, Johann attended a HTL career day and had a great exchange at the Cloudflight booth. It inspired him well enough to take part in the next coding contest (CCC) and eventually join Cloudflight. While his exceptional talent and intelligence allowed him to get hired, he still did not feel any passion for his field (yet).

It was only after several months of working on his first project assignments that he started to feel a new sense. A sense of accomplishment. As he learned about new technologies, architectures and workflows from experienced colleagues, he realized that he was growing professionally and personally. It did not take long for Johann to start getting great feedback from the team , which inspired him to improve even more. He got caught in a positive feedback loop. From then on, he knew that software engineering was his true passion.

Striving for Satisfaction

Over the years, Johann has been part of some interesting projects. He helped migrate a seriously complex program from AngularJS to Angular and, in the end, managed to improve the codebase considerably. He was able to create a backbone for a “mini Photoshop”, where users can customize print products on many different platforms. Both of these experiences meant a skill breakthrough for him and enabled him to level up as an engineer and an architect. Currently, Johann leads the front end Community of practice, which works to enable all our front end engineers to take advantage of sharing information, experience and knowledge from all our projects.

Johann has an inspiring life goal – to achieve satisfaction through his work . For all of us, this can mean something different and change over the course of our lives. Right now, to get the satisfaction, Johann strives to conquer more and more difficult technological challenges and keep growing as a professional. It is inspiring to think of what lies ahead on his path and what amazing challenges he can help us solve.

“We should try to make the most of our lives.”
