Cloudflight Becomes Leading Provider in Industrial Digital Transformation thanks to Strategic Acquisitions

  • Growth in DACH market through targeted M&A activities
  • Objective: Becoming a leading European provider for all services around digital transformation

Munich, May 24, 2022 – Cloudflight, a leading full-service provider for industrial digital transformation, continues to grow significantly in terms of business and size. Part of the growth is attributed to the strategic mergers with macio, Cognostics, and Divante. These acquisitions create a joint company that grew from 350 to over 950 employees.

This makes Cloudflight one of the largest providers for services around industrial digital transformation in the DACH region. The company aims at establishing a European champion, together with other complementary enterprises. Next to strong organic growth, Cloudflight pursues a buy-and-integrate approach to enable more value creation than it would have been possible for each company individually. This creates a higher added value not only for customers but for employees, who benefit from more opportunities for their own professional development.

In order to combine the different skills residing in each individual company for a joint go-to-market approach, Cloudflight proceeds with an integrative approach to expand its capabilities rather than establishing a holding structure. Before launching the series of mergers and acquisitions, Cloudflight was well-established in the market and known for its unique combination of coding and consulting. The new, holistic approach to digital transformation includes a broad service portfolio that encompasses artificial intelligence (AI), cloud native, embedded software development, human-machine interface (HMI) design, cognitive systems and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) as well as e-commerce solutions. Cloudflight’s strategy aims at expanding its complementary capabilities with a holistic service portfolio to become the leading provider for industrial digital transformation in Europe.

All four companies associated to Cloudflight grew organically by 30 per cent in 2021, achieving profit margins that are beyond average.

End-to-end approach for digital transformation

The mergers create a company that is present in five markets with 20 state-of-the-art offices. Thanks to the cross-border cooperation, the best talents from strategic IT consulting, data science as well as software and cloud architecture will be working together to successfully master the digital transformation of their clients. Cloudflight offers a broad solution portfolio to develop and implement tailor-made and comprehensive cutting-edge software solutions. To be able to offer even more to customers and employees, Cloudflight is still actively looking for exceptional digital transformation companies as part of its M&A strategy. Apart from expanding capabilities and strengthening the market position in Germany, Cloudflight is reaching out into new markets, mainly the Netherlands, Belgium and Scandinavia.

„Our most recent M&A activities were just the beginning. We are looking for companies that are a cultural fit and want to embark on the journey with us to complete our end-to-end portfolio. These companies will share our values, objectives, and visions to provide customers a true value-add and a competitive advantage thanks to digital solutions,” explains Christoph Oberhaus, CFO at Cloudflight. “Thanks to macio, Divante, and Cognostics, we gain new highly qualified, ambitious and motivated colleagues that will have a great contribution in leading Cloudflight to the top position in European industrial digital transformation.”

With macio, Cloudflight has expanded its capabilities in embedded software development and human-machine communication in a manufacturing environment. Cognostics added to the existing AI capabilities for cognitive systems while Divante has significantly strengthened e-commerce. Cloudflight came into existence in 2019 after a merger of the consultancy company Crips Research and Catalysts, the provider for customized software development.
