A big fan of AI
Octavian has always been fascinated by artificial intelligence and imagined himself building career around it. It was not a big surprise, because his mum, an excellent math teacher, inspired him to discover and enjoy the world of numbers. In high school and university Octavian has never had any problems and it would be unusual for him to get a mark worse than an A. To pursue his dream, he chose to study computer science, but it soon became clear that to really get his hands on AI or machine learning he would need to look for an internship with a company that would help him develop in this direction. This company was Cloudflight.
Path to working in AI
The first step Octavian took was participating in the Cloudflight Coding Contest. His excellent results turned into an instant invitation for an internship interview. Right away he fell in love with the vibe of our Cluj office and was happy to eventually become an intern. It is standard for all interns at Cloudflight to work on real world projects that have a real impact and that is why his onboarding coach recommended to join the ModelCloud team. It has been a perfect match, because the team is not large, and everyone gets an opportunity to learn new skills and technologies out of scope of their project role
ModelCloud is an artificial intelligence built from scratch by Cloudflight developers and data scientists. It is currently available for all employees to help them search, detect or sort various kinds of data. In the future ModelCloud will also be offered publicly, because it has tremendous commercial applications. The opportunity to work in this field cemented Octavian’s interests and while he is not entirely sure what future holds for him, he is happy that he can learn skills from various areas of SW development, data science and machine learning development. And we are happy that we can be there for Octavian’s journey.
