From software to business development
In 2008 Sascha successfully finished his degree in electrical engineering with focus on automation and started his career as an embedded software engineer for machinery in several production plants. It took him four years to realize that his passion lies elsewhere. He completed his MBA and without hesitation switched his career to sales. In his new line of work, he got to travel all over the world – to the US, China and many European countries and made countless memories. Like that one time when he underestimated the climate in Perm, a city close to Russian Ural Mountains, and his local customer had to buy a hat and coat, so that he would not freeze.
But as the time went by, he started to realize that he wants his job to be better aligned with his personal situation and values. Is it really necessary to wear a suit in the office and start precisely at 9:00 to be productive? Does it make sense to spend countless hours on an airplane in what really could just be an online call? And what about my carbon footprint? Why do I need to ask to work from home tomorrow? As he was pondering all these questions, it became quite clear that a change was necessary.
Your job can make you happier
Soon after, Sascha got in touch with our colleagues and secured an invitation for an interview. There he learned – among other things – about our values and that we really live them, which was the last piece that helped him decide to join us. First days were a bit overwhelming – the speed with which we implement ideas and the freedom we have, to experiment with different solutions, were new for him, but eventually everything worked out perfectly.
Today at Cloudflight, Sascha, as an industry leader, helps companies in the field of discrete manufacturing to improve their production, products, increase their output or create digital addons to their hardware. Generally, he helps them stay competitive now and, in the future. All that without compromising his family life or his personal values.
