Cloud Native has reached the next stage of evolution. What began a good 10-15 years ago with the first infrastructures and platform services is now an international and integral ecosystem for the IT & digitization of companies. In the DACH region, too, cloud native is increasingly becoming a driver and gamechanger in the context of infrastructure and application modernization as well as the basis for digital platform strategies.
A good 40 percent of companies have already been able to gain practical experience with cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and a DevOps concept. Overall, two-thirds of all companies already see that they will not be able to manage without Cloud Native as part of their IT strategy. It is almost certain that despite the limited experience with the new technologies, which are mostly driven from the open source environment of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and the large hyperscalers Google, Amazon or Microsoft, Cloud Native will continue to grow. More and more applications are already being developed “cloud-native” today.
This study, “The Rise of Cloud Native – DevOps, Kubernetes, and Open Source are Shaping the Future of Digital IT Operations,” examines the maturity, expectations, challenges and opportunities of cloud native in enterprise use.
It compares the strategies of experienced companies with those of cloud native laggards and skeptics. Cultural, organizational and technological aspects play a major role.
As part of the study, over 600 decision-makers were asked to what extent Cloud Native plays a role for them. The entire interview was conducted with a good 250 decision-makers in order to obtain an empirical basis for the forecast and further market development of Cloud Native in DACH.
