KIEL, April 23, 2023 – Cloudflight, a leading full-service provider of business digital transformation, hosted the 39th edition of the Cloudflight Coding Contest (CCC) on Friday, April 19. Almost 5,000 coders took part at 46 locations in 14 countries and online. Launched in 2007 at Johannes Kepler University Linz, the CCC has established itself as one of the largest and most popular coding competitions in Europe.
“We are very pleased to contribute to the development of software engineers in Germany with the CCC. The number of almost 5,000 coders attending, the continued support of our partners, and the fact that the CCC is held at 46 locations simultaneously underline the importance that the CCC now has. The CCC is a unique event that combines innovative technology with fresh ideas and professional expertise – exactly what Germany needs right now,” said Dr. Martin Endress, CEO of Cloudflight.
The contest keeps expanding
342 coders in Germany alone. To guarantee the success of the competition, Cloudflight cooperates with local governments and universities to promote young computer scientists locally. In Germany, the cooperation partners include the Programming School 42 Heilbronn, the LMU Munich, the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, the TU Darmstadt and the Fachhochschule Frankfurt. The CCC is also becoming more international this year with a second location in Madagascar at the Ecole Nationale d’Informatique in Fianarantsoa.
A hands-on challenge
During the competition, coders could participate individually or as a team in specially designed challenges divided into two categories: School – specifically for students 16 and older – and Classic.
“This time the Classic track was themed “Lawn Mover”, where the coders had to calculate paths for the correct operation of a robotic lawn mower. We deliberately chose a practical task to familiarize the participants with the challenges of real project work,” adds Stefan Tieber, software engineer and game developer at CCC.
The winners in each category are as follows:
School: Bitset Academy, Iasi – AI Cuza University, Rumänien
Classic: EmanuelNrx, Craiova – University of Craiova, Rumänien
Interested parties can check out the rankings of all teams worldwide, as well as more information on the individual categories and locations on the Cloudflight website.
The date for the next competition has already been set: the Cloudflight Coding Contest will celebrate its 40th anniversary on October 25, 2024. Participants can already prepare themselves for a special challenge. All information about the next edition can be found on the Cloudflight website.
